Perrigo to the Community
Perrigo is expanding its sphere of activities beyond the development, production and marketing of pharmaceuticals and is playing an active role in community service. The company has enacted a policy in which a portion of its annual profits is contributed the community, geared towards providing significant assistance to the weaker segments of the population, with an emphasis on education and healthcare.
“Krembo Wings” – The Perrigo Company has joined the campaign to integrate children with special needs into the society and widely supports the “Krembo Wings” Movement. The Movement, with 10 branches located throughout the country, offers a social response to hundreds of children. Recognizing the importance and the significant contribution of the Movement, Perrigo encourages its employees and their families take an active part in the program and to volunteer on behalf of this most worthy cause.
The Science Center – The Perrigo Israel production facilities are located in Yerucham. The company’s social support is expressed by its contributions and assistance to the local Science Center, geared towards broadening technological, computer and scientific knowledge by means of unique grants and scholarships, as well as affording employment opportunities at company factories in the south of the country.
Perrigo Project - Children Contributing to the Community – This year, Perrigo decided to embark on a new project that combines the employment of employee children with community service, by way of various associations. Some 70 children of company employees, from all facets of society and aged 15 to 18, participated in the project. Their wages were paid for by the company. Examples of community projects, in conjunction with the Association for Sustainability: painting electricity boxes and panels in Beer Sheva, painting playground equipment in public parks and painting the community shelter for children at risk. The children also worked with WIZO and assisted in the “Clothes-a-thon” campaign by distributing used clothes to the needy. They served as assistant counselors at the summer camps sponsored by the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel, working in Yerucham and at other society branches throughout the country.
“Social Responsibility Rating” – Perrigo participated in the nationwide rating of social responsibility and was ranked at the Gold Level. This gauge rates Israel’s largest companies by emphasizing the importance of evaluating the ways in which the company manages its operations regarding social and environmental commitments, in addition to its financial success.
